The best built-in kitchen bins and recyclers for kitchen cupboards from Vauth-Sagel

Integrated bins revamp your kitchen, keeping the hub of the home sleek and organised.

House Beautiful, the leading homes and interiors magazine, is packed with ideas to update and refresh your kitchen in its Kitchen Revamps September supplement

We're delighted that our Vauth-Sagel in-cupboard bin for pull-out doors is featured as a sleek, chic way to turn a cabinet into a hidden recycling bin. An integrated bin can have a transformative effect on your kitchen, freeing up floor space and keeping the waste and recycling neatly out of sight. Getting the right mix of function and style in the hardest working room in the house is important and a built-in bin is a simple-to-fit addition.

If Audi, Lamborghini, BMW and Volkswagen made bins, this is what they'd be like! Not such a strange thought, as Vauth-Sagel design and produce parts for all of these companies together with accessories for top of the range SieMatic kitchens.

When you see which other businesses they partner with, it makes perfect sense that Vauth-Sagel products are of premium quality and also full of innovative design features. The Pull-out door bins feature:

1. A unique system of 'easy-fit' soft-close side runners for the bins, which are strong steel panels quickly fitted using clear guide templates and simple tool-free fixings.

2. The runners, frames and lids are triple coated in a sleek platinum coloured finish which is extra tough and stylish to look at. Vauth-Sagel manufacture both steel and plastic parts and this ensures that the inner buckets are strong and also a perfect seamless fit into their frame.

3. The handles on the inner bins have angled corners which align closely together to form a frame around the bins and stop small pieces falling down between the buckets. The handles are particlularly strong when lifted up to take the weight of the bin contents. Liners can be fitted around the tops of the bins and held in place with the handles.

4. The styling is minimal and sleek which compliments contemporary kitchen designs, but of course the bins can fit into a cabinet of any design and create a hidden recycling bin with smooth functionality in any cupboard.

Choose the right bin for your cabinet

Start by measuring the width on the outside of the door. We have products for 400, 450, 500 or 600mm cabinet widths. The width of the products themselves is based on the external cabinet width minus 2 x the thickness of the carcass material, which is usually between 16-19mm as standard. This means that for example a bin for a 600mm cabinet will measure 562-568mm wide, and take up the total width of the inside of the cabinet.

Then check the height you have available for a bin. If you have most of the height of the cabinet free, you can fit the our largest Vauth-Sagel bins  bins which are the tallest at 570mm high when installed. These tall bins have a steel lid which is fixed to the cabinet sides and if it is around 10cm lower than the worktop, you'll still have enough space to use it as a shelf for liners etc.

Alternatively if you have a drawer above the bin, or if it's below the sink, look at the lower capacity bins (2-3 compartments up to 60 Litres total capacity) which are 470mm high. These lower capacity bins have a lid on sliding runners which can be pulled out independently over the bins to act as a useful shelf: see the image below, and the lid is shown in action in the video on the product page.

Check the depth you have for the bin: the standard depths taken up by the Vauth-Sagel bins range from 470mm (lower heigh bins); 480mm and 515mm.

The final decision to make in choosing your bin is the configuration of inner 'buckets' that will be best for your needs. There are double and triple versions available, and you can also consider the idea of combining a double in-cupboard bin with a food waste caddy to create a triple recycling solution.
